Do not point the laser beam at a person or animal and do not stare into it or its reflection - it can blind someone or cause accidents.
If the laser radiation hits your eye - close your eyes and immediately turn away from the beam. </aside>

Turn the tool on. Press the Red Up Arrow to switch the Laser Measure on.
Take a Measurement. Once on the rear edge of the Laser Measure will be the reference level for the measurement. With that positioned against the surface you want to measure from press the Red Up Arrow again to start the measurement. Do not move the tool.
Read the Measurement. The measurement will be shown on the display. You can also change the reference level and use different measuring functions in the function menu.
