(Equivalent to Finance Manager / Management Accountant)

We have an exciting opportunity for an accountant and finance professional to join the Library of Things team and lead how we manage and report on our finances.

You’ll be joining an agile 20-person team, a values-led culture and a big mission – to make borrowing better than buying for people and planet (more affordable, convenient and socially-rewarding).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who thrives on diving into financial details, while also capable of stepping back to see how the numbers relate to the bigger picture. Done well, this role will provide critical reporting and insights to the team on how the organisation’s limited resources are invested in pursuit of our mission.

• Are happy working in imperfection: We’re a young organisation with limited resources that is constantly evolving, so this role is about balancing financial best practice with adaptability, flexibility and knowing what is ‘good enough’
• Have entrepreneurial energy: While finance is traditionally a ‘back-office’ function, everyone at Library of Things has a front-seat role in navigating how we make borrowing better than buying
• Can communicate clearly and build relationships: It’s critical that financial information is clear and understood by the whole organisation
• Aren’t afraid to challenge: Use your in-depth knowledge about how Library of Things’ financial resources are allocated/spent to challenge where this could be done in a more impactful way

What’s the offer?

Time input: 20 hours a week with flexibility about how this is spread across the week (e.g. shorter working days to fit around childcare or other caring commitments)

Location: London/remote hybrid. The role would work best if you were in London 1 day/week, though there’s flexibility. Our office is in Brixton.

Salary: £39,875 - £44,000 (£19,938 - £22,000 pro rata) depending on experience

Team & Culture: We are a team of ~20 in total. This would be the only internal finance role, supported by an external accountancy company for bookkeeping, tax and compliance
