Don’t use a RugDoctor on

Natural fibre oriental rugs (silk or wool), hand-loomed wool rugs, braided rugs, sisal, sea grass, matting or jute carpets, silk, Haitian Cotton, Brushed Corduroy, leather, non-colourfast fabrics, berber or flotex.

Before you start

  1. Clear the area you want to clean - as the RugDoctor will need to be positioned directly on top of directed area.
  2. Vacuum the area with a normal vacuum to remove surface dirt first.
  3. Check the carpet for colourfastness (avoiding colours running)

Cleaning carpets

The Rug Doctor is designed to deep clean and extract the waste water in one cleaning pass. Do not go over heavily soiled areas more than once

  1. Prepare the machine
    1. Check that the vacuum slot and the mesh filter in the clear dome are not blocked
    2. Fill the red base tank with water + Rug Doctor detergent (follow bottle instructions).
    3. Ensure white recovery tank and filter are clean and fitted.
    4. Set switch to ‘Carpet Cleaning’
    5. Press vacuum switch to ON.
  2. To clean your carpet
    1. Press red spray button on handle.
    2. Pull machine slowly backward, holding the button. Keep it held down as you move
    3. Release spray button 1ft before the end of each run (to avoid over-wetting).
    4. Repeat in rows, slightly overlapping each pass. Only go over each area once.
    5. Once you have gone over once cleaning the carpet, repeat with just the vacuum ONLY
