Before getting started, good to know:

  1. This planer is a great tool for reducing the thicknesses of rough wood via the sharp spinning blade on its underside. It is most commonly used for tasks like evenly shaving the sides off a wooden door to make it close more easily.

  2. The Adjustment Handle (b) on the top gives you adjustment within a 1/10th of a millimetre to alter the depth of the cut - i.e. how much you want to take off.

  3. The detachable metal brackets make up the Parallel Guide (g) This is really useful for keeping the tool in the right position, making it easier and safer to use.

  1. The little red notch at the back of and underneath the tool is the Parking Foot (f). This keeps the blade from touching the material the planer is sitting on when you put it down after use - saving the blade and the surface from damage!
  2. On the underside of the front of the planer there are three chamfering grooves to help guide the tool when making chamfers (cutting away the edges of right angled corners)
  3. This planer has two Dust Exhausts (e) pointing in opposite directions. This allows you to place the dust bag on either side of the tool depending on which position is more comfortable. You just need to rotate the tab in the middle so the arrow points in the direction you want the dust to come out - and the other hole will be blocked.
  4. There are also two identical Left and Right Start Buttons (c) for both left and right handed users!

<aside> ❗ Watch out for screws and nails!

Never plane over metal objects - the tool is only designed for use with wood and other materials will likely cause damage to the blade.

  3. Attach the Parallel Guide (g) and adjust it to the correct position.
  4. Then place the front of the planer base onto the workpiece
